The Whittiers

This book was interesting, but not a favorite. The storytelling was a bit stilted trying to work all the family issues into a narrative. I liked the characters and the portrayal of a supportive family, but it was more than a little too contrived.

This account of Jennette McCurdy's childhood was shocking. McCurdy captures her experiences in a detailed timeline of events that left me speechless and unable to put the memoir down/

It was occasionally hard to read from so many characters perspectives. The topic might distress parents. This was picked for the Kindle Bookmark badge and I would not have chosen this usually.

I just got into Dungeons & Dragons and I just so happened to stumble upon this book. It was a cute, quick read for me. I don't typically read graphic novels but I gave this a shot and loved it. It also discusses OCD which I think is cool as an advocate for mental health.

This book is amazing. It touches on so many aspects of (in)justice and (in)equity in modern India... which women everyone also navigate to varying degrees.

Tress Of The Emerald Sea

This fairy tale is the newest addition to the Brandon Sanderson Cosmere universe but can be read as a standalone a story. The story reads as a light-hearted tale of true love in the style of William Goldman's timeless classic The Princess Bride. But Brandon Sanderson has a voice of his own and creates rich and wonderful characters on a completely novel and exciting world. Even if you have not read any of the other cosmere books, you will be able to follow and enjoy this book. However, aficionados of the Cosmere will be able to pick up on the many Easter eggs and references to elements of his past works in that universe. The unusual choice of using a single narrator does not hamper the elegant pacing of this story. Well I found some elements to be predictable, that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the storytelling and character development.
